Staying cool in Valva

We had a branch activity today up in the mountains at the Mondelli's summer cabin.  It was at least 20 degrees cooler up there and we had a wonderful afternoon.  We had three of our English class students come, all of whom promised to come to church tomorrow!  Yeah!

Half of our group went on a three hour hike.

The other half stayed down at the cabin  with babies and moms, and made lunch.

We ate outside under their grape arbor.  We had a six course picnic,  Italian style.  1.  Pasta...fuzzilli, 2. Lettuce salad,  3.  Battered fried Zucchini flowers,  4.  Fried Eggplant,  5.  Watermelon, 6. Peanut butter crunches.

                     It was a delightful afternoon.

There was a little summer festa down in the village square.  This man with the great handlebar mustache had one of the booths where he sold all kinds of nuts.  After getting a few pictures of him, he gave me a bag of candied roasted peanuts!  He is actually from Battipaglia.  Here he is in front of his big Battipaglia castle picture.  We will meet him again, we hope real soon!  Those bags are full of unshelled peanuts!
