May Miracles

The first week of May is over already.  The days are flying by.  We just had a dinner here at our apartmt for a part member family that we love.  The husband is such a wonderful man.  He is very smart and he enjoys talking with Paul about business things.  The wife is a new member and just darling.  Shrug asked me about food storage.  She reads the Liahona each month and saw an article about food storage.  I was able to teach her a small bit about it and its purpose and how to get started.  I cooked a real Italian meal tonight.  One miracle  today was that the dinner turned out.  We had anti pasta first, with mozzarella di buffala and prosciutto and salami and cantaloupe.  I made Bolognese lasagne and zucchini for the next course.  They liked it and I was so happy it turned out yummy.  Then I served jello for the dolce, and they liked that too.  We have invited their son to our scouting activity this Saturday and he is coming.  The missionaries are teaching their son about the gospel, and we so want him to find some friends at church so he will want to come.  We don't have any 11 year old boys who are members, but we do have 4 or 5 11 year old boys who the missionaries  are teaching.  It's amazing that they are all 11 years old.  Not a coincidence I am sure.
The best miracle today is that a young man who is an investigator, was able to not smoke all day today.  We spent about 3 hours over to his house last night going through the stop smoking program.  And he was able to do all 15 steps today and not smoke all day.  He is a a wonderful young man and has a desire to join the church.  We are thankful to The Lord for helping him get through this day.
Our cute sister missionaries took brownies to several people in our apartment building and they got two appointments to go teach this week.  One is a family with four kids.  That would more than double our primary.  I consider getting three sister missionaries, here in Battipaglia a wonderful miracle.
The elders are teaching a very poor family the gospel.  They live in an abandoned building. They have three boys and they even came to church Sunday.  The problem is that they have no way of getting to church and they live too far away to walk and they have no money for the bus.  We didnt know how we were going to get them to church.  We paid for their bus fare last Sunday, but we can't do that every week.  They were referred to us by the husband's sister who was inactive but has started coming back to church the last few weeks. She moved back to this area just so she could help her brother and his family who were in such dire straits.  But  she didn't have a job either so she couldn't help them get to church.  Anyway, the miracle is that a member of our branch helped her find a job, and her new boss gave her like a signing bonus that enabled her to get her car out of hock and pay for insurance so she now can take her brothers family to church.  What a blessing.
We have several sisters who want to get their patriarchal blessings. They have to go to Rome where the patriarch is in order to do so.  We have zone conference in Rome next week and can take one of them with us.  That will be wonderful.
A small miracle is that my basil plant is now three plants.  Who knew that you can just break off a stem of basil and stick it in dirt and it will start growing.  We pretty much have a caprese salad every day.
We appreciate having the sisters here.  They are willing to work and the new sisters are doing so well with their italian. It's going to be a great month.  It has started out fantastic.
