Baby blessings

We have had two new grand babies which havecome to the Scherbel family in the last 2 months.  Dan and Kyli, who live in Cedar City, blessed Mac Hale Scherbel, on Sunday.  I was so happy to hear that four of his siblings were able to drive down to Cedar City and be there for the wonderful day.  Jon and Kenzie, Christy and Mike, Tommy and Cam and their brand new baby Liam, and Paul and Sarah and their five kids all came too.  After the blessing, as they all met together at Dan's house, they face timed us, so we could be a part of the gathering.

Technology is amazing!  Dan's birthday is on the sixth, so we had a surprise birthday party for him as we were all together. We all sang happy birthday and then Kyli gave him a beautiful cake.  We felt like we were right there with them at the party!

Paul and Sarah's girls made a cute candy bar
poster for Dan which he loved.

The best thing was that everyone shared a special memory they had of Dan.  The siblings who couldn't come, all wrote theirs down, so they were read by Sarah.  Christy started off by saying that Dan had given her a Book of Mormon for Christmas, while he was on his mission.  He had written his testimony in it and that she read that many times then and still does.  It has helped her remember who she is and it has helped her through questioning times.  She starts crying as she is sharing this, and we were all pretty much crying through all the rest of the memories.  I can't believe how blessed we were to witness the display of love and caring of our children, one to another, as we are half way around the world. Tommy said that he still remembers Dan making up a story to tell him as he fell asleep each night when we lived in Germany and shared a room together. Big Mike said that he remembered the first time he met Dan, soon after he and Christy started dating.  As they left, he went to say bye to Dan and to shake his hand.  As he went to shake hands, Dan went for a man hug, and Mike said that that was awkward, but now it's expected!  Jon was the last to share his memories.  He is sitting on the ground with his beautiful wife standing in back of him.  He is crying as he remembers the bonding times with Dan, and McKenzie is holding baby Liam in her arms and gently rocking him.  It was a beautiful picture.
Tommy took a picture later of Christy's husband Mike holding both new babies.  It's one of my new favorite pictures.

As I was reading reading my scriptures after this joyous reunion, I read in Psalms 127 & 128:

Lo, children are an heritage of The Lord. As arrows are in the hand of the mighty man, so are children of the youth. Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them.

The Lord shall bless thee out of Zion, thou shalt see the good ...all the days of thy life.  Yea, thou shalt see thy children's children, and peace upon Israel.

And we did just see our grandchildren, and I feel so blessed.
