They had a smooth flight and all their luggage made it, which is a huge blessing. The girls didn't sleep any on the flight, but they were all happy to be here.
They got their rent a car
and we drove back to Battipaglia where we all took a little nap.
For dinner we all went to our favorite pizza place for some pizza.
Charlotte and Isabel got a Marguerita Pizza which is the most popular pizza in this region. It was developed during the reign of Queen Marguerita from Naples. When I told this story to the girls, Charlotte quickly asked me why the queen was named for a pizza! She is so cute! I told her the pizza was actually named in honor of the Queen. It's a simple cheese pizza as shown in front of Isabel. Lizzy got the capricciosa pizza which is one of my favorites. It has mushroom, olives, artichoke and ham and cheese on it.
Roland got the Reggia, which is a Marguerita with Mozzarella di Buffala cheese on it instead of regular mozzarella cheese.
I got my very favorite pizza which is a pumpkin pizza. It has a pumpkins sauce instead of a tomato sauce base, with cheese, and peperoncino (which is a bit of a hot spice, not pepperoni like one might think) and a bit of ham and fresh basil. And Paul got his favorite personal designed pizza, which has a white cream sauce base with mushrooms, olives and onions on it. We all enjoyed just being together again as a family. Charlotte and Isabel have grown up so much. They were so excited to be here and they behaved so well.
We all walked back home. It was a great 1st day together in Italy.
