Stake Conference Adult Session

Tonight we watched Stake Conference over the Internet.  What a blessing to be able to do so.  Rome is three hours away for us, and for Sardegna, it 'so costly because of travel by plane or a really long trip by ferry.  So the Internet is such a wonderful tool.  This was our first Stake Conference as a  new stake formed last fall by Elder Ballard.  We have been able to get to know the new Stake President and his wife and they are both wonderful inspired faithful followers of Christ.

I can see President Dinicciaci being a general authority.  He speaks with power and great faith.  Tonight he talked about having faith to do what we have been asked to do.  He said that his wife has had some serious health problems in the past few weeks, and he was suppose to travel to Pozzuoli to conduct a branch conference on Saturday and Sunday.  His wife was in the hospital on Friday, and really needed his support and help.  He felt so torn and didn't know which he should choose.  Stay with his wife, or go and fulfil his priesthood calling as Stake President.  So he prayed and asked Heavenly Father which he should do, and how he could take care of his other responsibilities.  His answer was, "go to the branch conference and take the three kids."  That would allow his wife quiet time to gain strength and her mother could stay with her.  So with the council of his wife, for him to follow his prompting, he went and took the kids.  It was tricky. He had to prepare food for the weekend and all the stuff to keep three kids happy .  As soon as they arrived at the church Saturday, their four year old fell and cut his knee quite badly.  It bled and bled.  But there were several sisters who saw to his needs and president was able to have his Saturday night meetings.  After they were tucked into bed that night, his daughter developed a sudden high fever.  He hadn't brought any medicines and wasn't sure what do.  But he gave her a priesthood blessing and he had the opportunity to see the hand of The Lord work a miracle by reducing her fever and giving her a good nights sleep.  He said that he felt that through his faith to serve in his priesthood responsibilities, even though it was not convenient or easy to do so that weekend, that his family was blessed more from The Lord, than if he tried to bless them himself.

He then showed several pictures from scripture accounts that showed people exhibing faith in very difficult circumstances, and they were rewarded with miracles.  Abinidai preaching the gospel to King Noah and converting Alma.  The children of Israel following Moses to the Red Sea and having it part for them to get through safely on the other side.  Elijah asking the woman to feed him and she had only a small amount for her last meal with her son, and she did as he asked, and was blessed with enough oil and meal to last her a long time.
When we are asked to do something to serve The Lord, and we don't think it is humanly possible or that we are not able to do it because of a million reasons, we need to remember to trust God, who is able, to do anything.  We will see miracles if we place our faith in Him, who is mighty to save.
I needed this talk a lot tonight.  I was so happy to be able to hear it and be inspired from it.  I hope I will have more faith to do things when they are difficult, or when I don't see how it's possible to do them.  I easily put limits on what I can or can't do.  I need to remember one of my favorite scriptures.

Trust in The Lord, with all thine heart, and lean not into thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
