Guido

Today, Guido and I wore matching sweaters.  So I wanted to get a picture of us together.  He bore such a powerful testimony in fast meeting today.  He said that when he was small he went to the Catholic Church in his neighborhood.  There was a giant cross with Christ hanging on the cross.  He said that he was so small, so it probably appeared extra huge to him.  He was born crippled.  He said that he would pray every week to the Christ up there on that huge cross.  He said that he got to know Christ really well at that time. He talked with him all the time.  "We were friends," he said.  Of course he prayed that Christ would heal him and take away his troubles.  But the Catholic Church worships the cross with Christ suffering on it, to remind us that because he suffered for us that we each must suffer for him here on earth.  He didn't think that was a very good way to think.  When he came in contact with our church, he loved the way that we believe we can have joy and happiness through the resurrected and risen Christ.  This is a joyful life.  He said that he looks forward to the next life because when Christ greets him, he is already friends with Him, and they already know each other.  It will be a joyful reunion, and not one of sharing suffering, but rather their joys and happiness of living the gospel.
When you look at his picture, you can see his joy.  From the moment anyone meets Guido, you feel that he is a spiritual giant, sent here to earth, in a humble body, to learn and teach others, the finer points of charity, that most of us could never comprehend let alone live. He teaches us how to have joy in Christ, as he shares his light.   We love him so much.
